New mystery books

We finished reading Sammy Keyes and the Hotel Thief last week and next Monday, we are looking forward to starting our new mysteries of choice. Here are the books that we are going to read.

Earth Day at Northwestern Elementary

We got to spend some time outside today learning and making all kinds of things at the Earth Day celebration at Northwestern.

Some of the things we did were:
  • made bird seed pinecones
  • got pine trees to plant at home
  • learned about how to recycle plastics
  • got our faces painted
  • took a nature walk
  • got to pet some animals
  • had The Lorax read to us

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but it was a lot of fun and a beautiful day.

Kids saving money

We had a visit today from Heather and Teia from Eaton Federal Savings Bank. They taught us some great ways to save money and still get some of the things we want to have like bikes and video games. We learned a little about interest and how it can help your money grow even faster than just saving it at home.

They also gave us each a piggy bank - wrapped in our favorite - bubble wrap.

Mrs. Foss reads Alice in Wonderland

We had a great visit at the end of March is Reading Month from Mrs. Foss. She had her big hat and read to us from Alice in Wonderland (the actual title is Alice's Adventures in Wonderland). I have to admit, I've never read that book and really enjoyed the selections that she shared with us.
